The beginnings of West Texas Veterans Support Services - Rusted and Weathered, are rooted in our human need to help others, which is often instilled in us at an early age.
For myself I remember as a child my parents along with my aunts and uncles would get together at my grandparents house not only for special occasions, but also to help them with repairing their home.
My grandparents were poor and could not afford to make repairs on their aging home.
Not only would the family show up to do the work, they also split the cost of materials. The entire family would show up and while the men were working, the women would be inside helping my grandmother in the house and the children were outside running and playing.
Out of those gatherings, my grandparents received a new roof, an additional room, the bathroom was fixed, a new porch was built and many other repairs were completed throughout the years.
Out of this experience came the inspiration for the creation of Rusted and Weathered, Inc. a registered 501(c)(3) corporation.
We are committed to helping our Veterans, Elderly, and Disabled with restoring their homes and restoring their lives. Gordon Gloria, M.Ed, B.S. Founder/Executive Director
